***RiverHawks U18 Tier 1 Midgets Advance to USA New England Regi

This past Saturday the U18 Tier 1 RiverHawks team took on the #1 nationally ranked Central CT Capitals (U18 South Kent School) at Newington Arena.  On paper, the game was a mismatch, and just a few weeks prior South Kent crushed the RiverHawks 6-2.

This time was different.  The RiverHawks matched South Kent’s intensity from the start, and emotions ran high throughout the contest.  It took 3 periods and an overtime period before the RiverHawks emerged with a 1-0 victory.  The game winning goal was scored with 32 seconds remaining in Overtime by Sean Clarke (Westminster), and while the goal was unassisted it was truly a team effort the entire game to get to that point.  Jared Levin (Salisbury) was outstanding in goal, posting a 62 save shutout.

With the victory, the RiverHawks avoided an elimination game the following afternoon and now travels to the Berkshire school next weekend (Nov 10-12) in an attempt to qualify for the National Tournament.

Best of luck to the team!
